Makiko is a Tokyo born theatre director/creator who worked in the theatre industry in New York, Tokyo, Boston, Beijing, and Brisbane. After taking MA at Emerson College (Boston, U.S.), she did a director fellowship for a Broadway musical "Allegiance." She was an assistant  director of China Broadway Entertainment / Broadway Asia「Neverland: The Peter Pan Immersive Entertainment」(Artistic Dir. Randy Weiner / Dir. Allegra Libonati) in New York and Beijing production. She was an  assistant director of “THE BOY FROM OZ " (Director Philip McKinley) Japanese production.

＊During COVID, she conceived and directed all-remote created song cycle "WeSongCycle," leading writers/performers from 9countries with supervised by Broadway professionals, Rob Rokicki, Stafford Arima, Telly Leung and Mariko Kojima.

She worked at ArtsEmerson, did an internship at A.R.T. education department and was PA for "Waitress" on Broadway and Broadway musical concert "The Secret Garden" at Lincoln Center.
